INTRODUCTION

This course discusses the background to Islamic medicine including its definition, characteristics and concepts. This course also discusses the sources that are the basic reference in Islamic medicine. Next, the fatwas of scholars related to Islamic medicine were also searched to find out its status. In addition, the details between the treatments that are allowed by Syarak and those that are contrary to it are also explained to distinguish between the two. Furthermore, wrong practices in Islamic medicine such as superstition and superstition are also discussed, including also individuals involved in medicine such as shamans including methods of recognizing them.

OBJECTIVE

This course is introduced to the general public with the aim of disseminating the knowledge of Islamic medicine. Among the main objectives of this course:

Know the concept of Islamic medicine and al-Tibb al-Nabawi

To know the reference sources and discussions of scholars related to Islamic medicine

Understand the difference between the treatment allowed by Shari'ah and the treatment that is contrary to it.

COURSE PLACES AND TRAVEL

Classes are held at the Seminar Room and Lecture Hall of the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur. This course is conducted in lectures delivered by lecturers.

COURSE DURATION AND LEARNING TIME

The course consists of 4 modules and each module is conducted for 4 months. Lectures are held every Saturday from 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Malaysian.

• Minimum Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

• Certificate of Participation - Participants must attend 80% of the class to qualify for a certificate of participation.

• Certificate of Pass - Participants must pass (40 passing marks) in the examination for all subjects offered. 80% attendance is required to qualify to sit for the examination.

The fees for each Module are as follows:

Tuition Fee: RM 600.00 (Including course notes)

Fees paid will not be refunded if participants fail to attend the course or for any reason unless the course is canceled by the organizer.

MODULE I

Introduction to Islamic Medicine

The background to Islamic medicine covers its definitions, characteristics and concepts. This course also discusses the sources that are the basic reference in Islamic medicine.

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND OF ISLAMIC MEDICINE

Discussing the background of the development of the world of medicine from the pre-Islamic era until after the advent of Islam, including the time of the Prophet SAW, the time of the Companions, the time of the Tabiin and the time of the Salaf al-Soleh. The early days of Islam until the era of Islamic development. Apart from that, this course also discusses the development of the world of medicine in the Malay world in the archipelago to see the methods of medicine that are their practice. Apart from that, the issue of integration of arterial and complementary medicine practices is also discussed in this course to solve the question.

THE LANGUAGE OF THE QUR'AN I

Aims to learn the meaning of the words, verses and language style of the Qur'an and the Arabic grammar related to it in a simple, concise and practical.

BASIC NEEDS AS A STUDENT AND PRACTITIONER

Discuss the basic needs that need to be prepared by someone who wants to learn Islamic medicine. This course also discusses the basic needs of a person who wants to practice Islamic medicine. Apart from that, this course also explains about the opportunity for da'wah and purification of aqeedah for anyone who is involved in Islamic medicine. In addition, this course also explains the knowledge of counseling and psychotherapy applied by practitioners of Islamic medicine.

CONCEPTS OF TESTS AND DISEASE CURE PROCEDURES

Discuss the concept of testing and reinforcement according to Islam. This course also discusses the concept of ikhtiar and healing of diseases according to Islam, including rewards for people afflicted with diseases. In addition, prayers and verses are applied.In Islamic treatment is also explained in this course.

MODULE II

UNDERSTANDING OF RUQYAH AND ITS IMPORTANCE

Discuss the concept of ruqyah and understanding it according to the perspective of the Qur'an and hadith. This course also discusses the forms of ruqyah as a barrier to self, property and family. In addition, this course also explains the types of ruqyah and methods of implementation. Furthermore, this course also discusses the significance of ruqyah selection and its secrets in Islamic medicine.

BEKAM

Discuss the treatment of cupping as explained according to the hadith perspective. This course also discusses the skills needed by a person to become a cupper, the tools needed and the methods in the implementation of the cupping process. In addition, this course also explains the issues and misunderstandings that occur on cupping treatment

TYPES OF TREATMENT MATERIALS AND THEIR USE

Discussing the treatment materials commonly used in Islamic medicine includes the concept of the use of materials in treatment as well as the ethics of using them. In addition, this course also discusses the correct methods to apply the material in performing treatment. Apart from that, the types of materials commonly used in treatment as well as methods of using them are also discussed in this course.

 

METHODS AND APPROACHES OF TREATMENT IN ISLAMIC MEDICINE

Discuss the existence of Islamic treatment centers in Malaysia and the variety of treatment methods. This course also explains the issues and challenges in coordinate treatment methods and approaches in Islamic treatment. Furthermore, this course also unravels the deviant and dubious methods in Islamic medicine.

MODULE III

TREATMENT OF PHYSICAL DISEASES

Discuss the categories of illness experienced by a person including the factors a person is attacked by the disease. This course also discusses the methods used to deal with diseases. In addition, this course also explains the types of physical diseases that can be treated through Islamic medicine. In addition, methods and materials used in treating physical ailments are also discussed in this course.

TREATMENT OF SPIRITUAL/EMOTIONAL DISEASES

Discuss related to diseases that result from disturbances to human emotions. In addition, this course also explains the types of spiritual illnesses and their influence on patients. In the meantime, this course also suggests basic ruqyah-ruqyah in spiritual illness.

DISCUSSION OF SUBTLE BEINGS

Discuss the fact of occurrence, characteristics and habits of subtle beings and the beings associated with them. This course also explains the reality of subtle beings as explained in the Qur'an, hadith and the views of the scholars. Apart from that, this course also discusses the fact of subtle beings in the cosmology of the archipelago.

TYPES OF DISORDERS AND DISEASES CAUSED BY SUBTLE BEINGS

Discuss the types and ways of disturbances that stem from subtle beings. This course also explains the related symptoms that indicate the presence and disturbance of subtle beings. Other than that, this course as well also explains about the diseases that emanate from the subtle beings and then the methods of treating them.

MODULE IV

DISCUSSION OF MAGIC AND ITS TYPES

Discuss the definition of magic and the origin of its existence. This course also explains about magic according to the perspective of the Quran, hadith and the views of scholars about it. In addition, this course also discusses the division and types of magic that exist in today's society. Apart from that, the approach and treatment of magic as practiced in hadith is also discussed in this course. Finally, the course also lists the practices of self-protection and the combination of ruqyah to prevent magic.

DISCUSSION OF SANTAU AND ITS TREATMENT

Discuss related to santau and its characteristics. This course also explains about the history of the development of santau, especially in the Malay world, the types of santau and how it is spread. Apart from that, this course also discusses the methods applied to treat and prevent santau.

DISCUSSION OF HYSTERIA AND ITS TREATMENT

Discuss related to the introduction to hysteria as described by Islam, scholars, scientists and traditional healers. This course also discusses the causes that can cause hysteria as well as the forms of possession that a person can face. Furthermore, this course also explains how to avoid hysteria, including methods of treatment when a person is attacked by hysteria.

THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC TREATMENT CENTERS IN THE TREATMENT OF DISEASES

Discuss the background of Islamic treatment centers in Malaysia, whether the factors of establishment, management orientation and its role. This course also explains the syariah-compliant and non-syariah-compliant methods applied in Islamic treatment centers. In addition, this course also highlights some basic guidelines for the operation and referral to Islamic treatment centers. In addition, issues and challenges related to Islamic treatment centers are also discussed in this course. Apart from that, this course also highlights the debate on the integration between Islamic treatment centers and contemporary health institutions as well as its prospects in helping to diversify disease treatment techniques.
