The short-term course of al-Quran Studies (KPAQ) organized by the Ikhtisas Studies Program, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya was first introduced in September 2001. This course combines three important elements that underlie the study of al-Quran, namely skills of tajwid and recitation of the Quran as well as tarannum (songs of the Quran), the language of the Quran and the sciences of the Quran. Having operated until now, this course has succeeded in attracting the interest of the Muslim community to deepen the current knowledge of the Qur'an as well as master the skills of reciting the Qur'an and Arabic as the medium of instruction of the Qur'an.
This course is introduced to the general public with the aim of disseminating knowledge related to the holy book of the Quran to them. Among the main objectives of this course:
• Guide the public to read the Quran correctly (tartil).
• Expose them to a true understanding of the contents of the Qur'an, especially the laws contained in it.
• Teach and guide them how to practice all the commands contained in the Qur'an.
• Make them love the Qur'an and put it as the dustur (constitution) of life.
Classes are held at the Seminar Room and Lecture Hall of the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur. This course is conducted in lectures delivered by lecturers
• Malaysian.
• Minimum Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent• Certificate of Participation - Participants must attend 80% of the class to qualify for a certificate of participation.
• Certificate of Pass - Participants must pass (40 passing marks) in the examination for all subjects offered. 80% attendance is required to qualify to sit for the examination
The fees for each Module are as follows:

MODULE I
QUR'ANIC SCIENCE I
Discuss the meaning of the Qur'an, its characteristics, the names of the Qira'at, miracles, the reasons for its revelation, the wisdom of the gradual decline, the verses of muhkamat, mutasyabihat, makkiyyah, madaniyyah, history of collection the Quran as well as related matters.
HUKUM TAJWID I
Discuss the forms of the letters of the Quran. Introduction to the science of Tajwid and the law of studying it, the makhraj-makhraj of the letters, the properties of the letters and the method of reciting in tajwid.
THE LANGUAGE OF THE QUR'AN I
Aims to learn the meaning of the words, verses and style of the language of the Qur'an and the Arabic grammar related to it in a simple, concise and practical.
TAFSIR AYAT AL-AHKAM I
Discuss selected verses related to hukum-hakam.
MODULE II
TAFSIR AYAT AI-AHKAM II
It is a continuation of Tafsir Ayat AI-Ahkam I. It focuses more on tafsir Mawdui 'and tafsir tahlili on some verses from selected surahs such as al Baqarah (282-283), al-Mujadalah (1- 4) al-Talaq (1-3), al- Nisa '(92-93) and others.
ULUM AL-QURAN II
Discuss the meaning of tafsir and its division such as Tafsir bi al-Riwayah, Tafsir bi-al-Dirayah (AI-Ra'yi) and Tafsir al-lsyari.
HUKUM TAJWID II
Is a continuation of the course Tajwid and Tilawah al-Quran I. Discusses about the law of nun mati and tanwin, the law of mim mati, the law of mim and nun bertasydid mad and qasar, basmalah and its law.
THE LANGUAGE OF THE QUR'AN II
Discuss the types of verses in the Qur'an and its formation system, the system of word change in the verse according to Arabic grammar and the practicality of the verses of the Qur'an, adawat and its function in the verse, types of styles the language of the Quran and its system of meanings.
MODULE III
AL-QURAN AND SYAKHSIAH CONSTRUCTION
Describes the Muslim personality based on al-Quran and al-Sunnah. Emphasis is given to Rasulullah saw as a model of Muslim personality, the role of worship in building Muslim personal qualities, manners and culture of Muslim life as well as pure values in Islam.
HUKUM TAJWID III
Extension and complement to Tajwid and Tiiawah al-Quran I and II. Discuss about waqf and the parts of the sign of waqf found in the Qur'an, hamzah wasal, hukum lam, isti'azah and the manners of reciting the Qur'an.
BAHASA AL-QURAN III
Is an extension of the Bahasa al-Quran II course. Discuss on how to arrange the number of verses in the Quran, the basic division of words and the need in the formation of verses according to the rules of the Arabic language.
AQIDAH IN THE QUR'AN
Explains about the aqeedah of ahl al-sunnah wa al jama'ah which includes the main things for every Muslim.
MODULE IV
THE QUR'AN AND THE BUILDING OF SOCIETY
Describes the relationship between Islam and society, devotion to God and society, justice in the Qur'an, the importance of leadership in building society and trust in the life of society.
THE LANGUAGE OF THE QUR'AN IV
Continuation from the previous lesson and discusses al-nakirah, al-ma'rifah, al¬-mudhakkar and al-mu'annas.
TARTIL AL-QURAN
Is a continuation and continuation of the lesson of Tajwid & Tilawah Al-Quran. Students are exposed to the correct recitation of the Quran and memorization of the Quran.
METHOD OF INTERPRETATION OF THE QUR'AN
Discuss the methodology used by the commentators in interpreting the verses of the Qur'an.
MODULE V (optional)
THE LANGUAGE OF THE QUR'AN V
Continuation from the previous lesson, discusses the Arabic language through the text of the Qur'an, worship, lineage, jazam and so on.
TARANUM AL-QURAN
Students are exposed to the form of songs that are often used in the recitation of the Quran such as Bayati, Misri, Shika, Ras and so on.
METHOD OF MEMORIZING THE QUR'AN
Discussing the method of memorizing the Qur'an includes techniques of memorizing short verses and long verses, preserving and maintaining memorization, the manners of a memorizer and so on.
QASAS OF THE QUR'AN
Reveals to the participants about selected stories told in the Qur'an for guidance and teaching of daily life.
