The Department of Islamic History, Civilization, and Education is a unique entity. It is the result of a merger and rebranding of APIUM. The department combines two previously separate departments: the Department of Islamic History and Civilization and the Islamic Education Programme.
The Islamic Education Programme has been offering a Bachelor of Islamic Education (SMPI) since 1982, in collaboration with the Islamic Academy, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Education.
Meanwhile, the Department of Islamic History and Civilization has been offering a Bachelor of Usuluddin (Islamic History and Civilization) since the formation of the Academy of Islamic Studies in 1996.
Moving forward, in light of the challenges and responsibilities to nurture the younger generation for the future, we are committed to integrating the two departments and working together to ensure that our programs are sustainable and aligned with market needs.
To complete the growth and academic process, Master and PhD studies are also offered at this department. This is and excellent opportunity to those who would like to further their studies in the area of Islamic History, Civilization and Education.
Our academic members have a multidimensional expertise and different background on academic trainings which enrich the strength that we have. They are actively involved in research and won several medals in research exhibitions as well as winning a prestigious award.
We receive bachelor students and those who pursue their studies in higher degree, hence we would like to welcome anyone to our department. Should you have any enquiries, please feel free contact us. For prospective candidates, we are looking forward to have you at our department.
