Modes of Studies

All programs are by research except for masters in Syariah and Usuluddin where candidate may choose to read by coursework and dissertation. Fresh graduates are highly recommended to select programs with coursework and dissertation. Candidate works under supervisor(s) to write a dissertation or thesis.

For master degree candidate can submit their dissertation for examination after two semesters (a year). Master degree by coursework can only submit their dissertation after passing all the required courses. A normal period for coursework is two semesters. A candidate has to register up to six courses. The maximum period is for five years or ten semesters both for full research and coursework master degree students.

For PhD degree a minimum of two years or four semesters is required before a candidate can submit the thesis for examination. The maximum period is 8 years or 16 semesters.
