Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah SWT and peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
The students of Applied Sciences & Islamic Studies Programme are a big part of the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya as a whole. Since its inception in 2002, many challenges have been overcome. Today, the Applied Sciences & Islamic Studies Programme has become stronger with a streamlined structure of studies that has been established. Together with dedicated lecturers and staff, many improvements have been made in order to ensure that the Applied Sciences & Islamic Studies Programme is capable of producing knowledgeable and competitive graduates in the areas of Islamic studies and science.
Until the year 2014, nine generations of students of Applied Science & Islamic Studies Programme (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014) have successfully graduated. They are now working in various professions in the public sector which include positions such as science officer, diplomatic and administrative officer, J-Qaf teacher, instructor, lecturer and many more. Others are with the private sector with some joining well-renowned companies such as Petronas, IBM and Felda Global Ventures.
There are also many graduates from this programme who have chosen to further their studies. Some pursue their postgraduate studies in the science stream, others in Islamic studies, and there are also those who chose to further their studies by integrating Islamic studies and science. It is interesting to note that aside from local universities, graduates from this programme have also successfully furthered their studies overseas in countries such as the United Kingdom and Japan. The success of these graduates will hopefully be continued by the present students of Applied Sciences & Islamic Studies Programme in the years to come.
Hence, it is hoped that Applied Sciences & Islamic Studies Programme will attract more students as an effort to produce a generation of Muslim scientists that are knowledgeable in both Islamic studies and science.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the Management of the Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya for their concern and effort in developing the Applied Sciences & Islamic Studies Programme up until today. My heartfelt congratulations to all graduates of the Applied Sciences & Islamic Studies Programme. All the very best to all future graduates of this programme.
